Magic Mirror

Magic Mirror was originally intended as a file folder writing center activity. I see no reason why it couldn't be adapted to use with a small group or even an entire class, provided you find enough small mirrors to use.

Materials:

Construction:

1. Write the title Magic Mirror on the front of the file folder using marking pens. Add any appropriate illustrations.
2. At the bottom of the inside front cover, write this message:

   WARNING- Carefully read all materials on the following page before looking into this mirror! Follow all directions exactly.

3. On the inside back cover, print the following directions using marking pens:

   Recently unearthed in archaeological digs in a cave on a remote Italian island was this rare Magic Mirror. Believed to be the only one of its kind left on earth, they were once commonly used by ALL ancient Romans. One look of no more than sixthy seconds, allowed the ancient legend tellers to "SEE" a tale about their life, customs, or gods. THE MAGIC IS BELIEVED TO STILL BE GOOD!!! You, too, should be able to "SEE" a story that explains something about your life and times. REMEMBER- only sixty seconds or you will turn into a pillar of salt. Record your story on paper and include an illustration of what you saw. You may share your experience with your classmates if you wish.

4. Laminate the folder or cover it with clear contact paper for durability.
5. Attach the mirror to the inside front cover of the folder with colored masking tape which will serve to protect against any sharp edges.
6. Your writing center is ready to use.
