Running for Office
For the past several weeks in our Social Studies classes we have been discussing the upcoming Presidential election. One of the areas about which we discussed was the specific qualities it takes to be the President. For Paragraph a Week this week you are to imagine that you are running for political office. On the back of this sheet of paper, list the personal characteristics that you possess; these might be honesty, quick wit, sense of humor, determination, etc. Look over the list carefully. What would be the perfect political office for which you should run? Write a paragraph that announces your candidacy for this office and why you would be perfect for the job. Focus on the words you are selecting and how you are speaking. You want to appeal to the voters; you want to be the one candidate that they remember!
