Hereditary Traits
For English this week, you are to write at least two paragraphs about a characteristic or trait that you have inherited from your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, or whomever. Perhaps it will be the color of your hair. Maybe you suffer from hay fever. Are you exceptionally short, tall, thin, or large? Are you left-handed? Do you have an ear for music which is exceptional? How are you like your ancestors (living and deceased?)
Develop a composition with a good topic sentence, transitional sentence(s), and a strong concluding sentence. Your supporting sentences should be specific and full of details. One of your supporting sentences must be a compound sentence. REMEMBER a compound sentence is one sentence joined to another sentence by a comma and the words and, or, but.
REMEMBER:
- ___ 5-8 sentences for each paragraph, including a topic and concluding sentence
- ___ A TRANSITIONAL sentence which smoothly takes your reader from one paragraph
to another
- ___ five elements of good writing; focus on PURPOSE and DIRECTION
- ___ clearly REWORKED rough draft
- ___ final is neat and written in ink
- ___ signature of adult who helped you proofread your work for IDEAS and PRESENTATION
- ___ all three papers stapled together with final on top
