Catholic Schools Week

This week Catholic Schools all across the United States are celebrating Catholic Schools' Week. It is a time that we honor the mission that Catholic Schools do for young people, the Church, and the community. We remember all those who are involved in Catholic education. For your weekly writing assignment, you will be writing one paragraph. Its topic: what Catholic Schools' Week means to me.

Take a few moments to gather your thoughts. Then, on the back of this paper, make a list or web of at least eight things about which you can write. Using your ideas, compose ONE well-written paragraph on the selected topic. Focus on all five elements of good writing, but pay particular attention to IDEAS and STYLE. I will be looking for unique, well-developed thoughts and unusual ways of expressing them. (HINT: figurative language and a variety of sentence types)

REMEMBER:

  1. __ 5-8 sentences for the paragraph
  2. __ five elements of good writing, especially IDEAS and STYLE
  3. __ clearly reworked rough copy (one point towards PRESENTATION)
  4. __ signature of adult who helped you proofread your rough draft for PRESENTATION
  5. __ final neat and in ink
  6. __ all three papers stapled together with final on top
