Allowance

Do you get an allowance? Do you think you should have one? Why? How much money should you earn? How would you earn it? How should you spend the allowance? Think about this subject.

This week you are to write three paragraphs. Choose three ideas about allowances. You are to write five to eight sentences in each paragraph. Start your first paragraph with a topic sentence that will introduce your entire composition's discussion. Then limit your first paragraph's discussion to only your first idea. Each succeeding paragraph will need its own topic sentence to match its idea. Your first paragraph will also need a concluding sentence which will lead the reader to the second paragraph, and your second paragraph will need one to lead to your third. Your conclusion will need to wrap up the entire composition's discussion. Think about all the things we talked about regarding paragraphs and their structure.

REMEMBER:

  1. __ 5-8 sentences for EACH paragraph, for a total of 15-24 sentences.
  2. __ Focus on the five elements of good writing, particulary PURPOSE and DIRECTION.
  3. __ CLEARLY reworked rough draft.
  4. __ Signature of adult who proofread your composition for PRESENTATION.
  5. __ Good copy in ink.
  6. __ All THREE papers turned in with final on top.
