Cutting Down on Forgotten Materials

Intermediate students who are on rotary sometimes forget their materials. To cut down on this as a habit for some students, I use the following method: students who request to go to their locker to get a forgotten notebook or novel are allowed to do so but before they leave they must write their name on the 'Clean Up Duty' list. They retrieve their item from their locker and return, knowing that before they move on to their next class, they must take one full minute to clean up the floor or shelves. This encourages students to remember their things. As well, it encourages students to keep the class neater. My intermediate students accept this responsibility. If the forgetfulness does not improve, clean up duty can be increased as you wish.
